Principal's Message

Welcome to Bronx Compass High School… Home of the Dragons!

On behalf of Bronx Compass High School, I’d like to welcome you to the start of the 2020-21 school year! We all know this is a school year unlike any other, and as a result, we have spent the summer creating a plan that emphasizes a safe reopening of our school, in collaboration with the NYC DOE, and with family, student and staff input.

I’ve heard you loud and clear:

Safety, Flexibility, Empathy and Rigorous Instruction are what matters most to YOU!

Whether in person or remotely, our reopening plan allows for the flexibility and empathy needed during this challenging time to keep students, faculty and families safe, while still providing the rigorous instruction to all learners that has led to our scholar’s incredible success!

Everyday, our team of dedicated educators work tirelessly to ensure all of our students have their academic, social and emotional needs met so they can thrive in our classrooms—both in the building and remote. The education, safety and mental well-being of our students is our top priority, and our student support team rises to the occasion daily so that our teachers can do what they do best—inspire and challenge young minds.

All members of our faculty at Bronx Compass are committed to creating a safe and respectful learning environment that allows our students to meet our high academic expectations. Our focus is that our students graduate both college and career ready, with the skills necessary to succeed in the 21st century workforce.

Bronx Compass is home to a diverse student body, where family and cultural values are respected and recognized as enriching our learning community. All are welcome at Bronx Compass as we continue to provide a Culturally Relevant Curriculum and emphasize Equity and Voice for all students, families and staff.

Bronx Compass is our home, we are fiercely proud of our students and all that they have already, and will continue to accomplish in their bright futures.

We welcome you to join us as we become one of the most successful learning institutions in the Bronx! We’re Bronx Compass and we’ve got GRIT!

Welcome back Dragons, wishing everyone a safe and successful school year! #CompassStrong

Principal’s Message During Remote Learning:

Bronx Compass Students, Families and Faculty,

Throughout Remote Learning, I constantly remind myself of a quote to stay motivated and focused throughout our journey with remote learning:

“Tough times never last, but tough people always do.”

Remote Learning has been a challenging time for the Bronx Compass community, but it is always important to remember that we are #CompassStrong! Being #CompassStrong means being strong enough to help others, strong enough to know when you need help and asking for it.

You can lift someone up today and need someone to lift you up tomorrow, both are signs of strength and we are all in this together.

YOU - the students, the families and the staff members of Bronx Compass - have been an inspiration in how you continue to try your best to make Remote Learning meaningful and enjoyable.

We are learning together how to make the best of Remote Learning, and your feedback continues to inspire us to rethink education. THANK YOU.

YOU exemplify what makes The Bronx so special; the harder the challenge, the harder we fight together to make sure our loved ones are safe and well. Relationships have always been what makes Bronx Compass special. Thank you for always checking in on each other and supporting one another during Remote Learning.

We all miss one another and we are all wiser in knowing what an honor and meaningful experience it is to come together for academic, social and emotional support as not just a learning community, but as a family.

When it is safe, we will all come back together to Bronx Compass High School, a community that will no doubt be changed by the past few months, but one thing will NEVER change: the Bronx Compass community is here to support you.

Please do not hesitate to reach out at any time with questions, concerns, or requests of support. We will always make all efforts to provide you with information and support as soon as possible.

Finish the Spring 2020 Semester by trying your absolute best, we will get through this - TOGETHER!

REMEMBER - “Tough times never last, but tough people always do.”

Please be safe and take care of yourselves and your families. I appreciate each and every one of you.
